How can I change the layout on the new and sale items pages?

To change the layout of your "new" and "sale" pages, click on "Catalog Setup" on the right side menu in the admin area. The layout setting on this page is the one that controls those two. Select the new layout you'd like and click the button at the bottom of the page to update.
